Our teams are also working with suppliers to manage the full carbon footprint of our products and systems, conducting life cycle analyses (LCA) and performing appropriate controls through to end-of-life disposal. For example, Linkeo ® hoses, used in vehicle exhaust systems, can limit hydrocarbon emissions, while selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology significantly reduces NOx emissions. Hutchinson technologies help reduce the environmental impact of the automotive and aerospace sectors. Specialized companies recycle rubber for applications such as floor coverings or use it as a substitute fuel in cement plants. For instance, Hutchinson has made reusing vulcanized and natural rubber a particular priority. We are recycling more and more production waste at our sites. In addition, treatment units at our manufacturing sites capture and destroy VOCs. Our teams are permanently engaged in shrinking the environmental footprint of our production processes, for instance by scaling back the use of chlorine-based solvents. Hutchinson reduces waste from the manufacturing process through regrinding, which reuses virgin raw materials recovered from the process. Our "house" TPE/TP Vegaprene® and Gygaprene® lines replace less recyclable materials in many automotive and aerospace applications. We’re also helping to encourage the wider use of recyclable materials with our 100% recyclable Vegaprene® and Gygaprene® TPE and TP materials. Our automotive and aerospace activities consider that weight reduction and integrating functions are central to eco-designed Hutchinson technologies and solutions. This focus on renewables includes biobased polymer matrixes and biobased fillers - lignocellulosic fillers, for example, are derived from plants and wood.
